Flowers come in the spring. All the love I can bring I bring it for my baby. All I can do. You know, you know it’s for my baby.
-American Spring | 2020 Feminine Spring Style
Spring is just around the corner. Here in San Diego, my plants are rich with the bloom of new spring life. To celebrate the return of the sun post winter I created this 2020 feminine spring style. Taking cornerstone pieces that can be adapted to the seasons, I added floral lighter than air fabric to create a sunny look sure to chase away winter’s frost.
- Floral Spring Babydoll Dress
Flirty and classic, floral dresses are the epitome of spring style. Look for styles with billowy sleeves to enhance the romantic vibe. I always look for dresses with tie fronts and hourglass shapes as a way to emphasize my waist in a feminine way. I was fortunate to find this babydoll dress at my local Navy Exchange.
- American Heritage Boots
Red Wing Heritage boots are an enduring testament to fine American craftsmanship. For over 110 years the Red Wing company has produced boots with timeless design and rugged functionality. Boots that are as trusted in the cityscape, as they are in the deep coal mines, farms, and harsh mountains of America by her hard working citizens. As perfect with denim as they are with a dress, the Clara boot is as versatile as they are classic.
- Straw Hat
Hats are a way to add effortless style to your look. I personally am attached to my hats as a way to battle my chronic illness which has left me unable to tolerate UV Rays. Even if sunshine is not your kryptonite like it is for me, hats serve to add both function and flair to your look. Straw hats, such as mine- purchased at my favorite store, Free People, by the brand San Diego Hat Company– are perfect for the warmer months when a wool hat is just too hot. I added a custom French velvet ribbon in a copper penny color to match my boots and bag- which I adapt to wear year round.
- Vintage Inspired Bag
When I was introduced to Patricia Nash’s work I fell head over heels. The Patricia Nash brand is built on old world craftsmanship, originality, and a love for both travel & people. Being that my style is neo-vintage, or modern style inspired by tradition, the brand was a perfect fit to invest in for cornerstone pieces of my slow fashion wardrobe. This box purse in particular, is dear to me as it features a map of my husband’s- the blood of my blood- ancestral homeland. The piece truly brings the past into the present with fresh eyes and pairs wonderfully with any spring look.
